Bengaluru/IBNS, March 8 -- The Karnataka government on Friday announced the capping of movie ticket prices at Rs. 200 across all cinema halls and multiplexes in the south Indian state, media reports said.
Siddaramaiah also revealed his plan to launch a state-run OTT platform to promote Kannada films.
This comes after leading Kannada filmmakers Rakshit Shetty and Rishabh Shetty expressed concerns over the major OTT platforms' lack of interest in showing regional films.
The government has allocated Rs. 3 crore to archive Kannada films digitally and non-digitally.
A multiplex-complex will also be developed on a plot of 2.5 acres owned by the Karnataka Film Academy in Bengaluru's Nandini layout.
