Kolkata, July 7 -- JSW Infrastructure secured a Rs.740 crore project from the Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port Authority to enhance the port's container handling capacity, according to a company release on Monday.

With the construction timeline of two years, the company will also be able to commence operations during the construction phase, leveraging Kolkata's steady cargo volumes.

According to JSW Infrastructure, the development would be a key milestone in diversifying its cargo portfolio through targeted investments in the container segment.

The invest in Kolkata port would strengthen its container operations across the eastern and western coasts, it added.
