New Delhi, Jan. 20 -- Much similar to what was expected, former Union Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Jagat Prakash Nadda was on Monday elected unopposed as the country's ruling party president.

He succeeded his colleague Amit Shah who is considered as the architect of the BJP's electoral successes in last few years.Nadda, who is a Rajya Sabha MP from Himachal Pradesh, will remain in his office till 2022.His first entry into politics happened way back in 1993 when he was elected to the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly.
