India, April 29 -- Indians and a large section of the Indian diaspora in Canada heaved a sigh of relief with Khalistani sympathiser Jagmeeet Singh losing the polls and quitting as the leader of the New Democratic Party (NDP). Besides the poor single-digit show of NDP in the federal polls, where the outfit managed to take a lead in only eight seats, Singh himself lost.
The party contested in 343 seats in the crucial federal elections. Singh, who was holding the strings of the previous Justin Trudeau government, himself lost the Burnaby Central seat from British Columbia.
