Kolkata/IBNS, March 19 -- Jadavpur University (JU) student Soumyadeep Mahanto, who was arrested for arson, has been granted an interim bail by the Alipore court, media reports said.
He has been directed to appear before the investigating officer at Jadavpur Police Station regularly till July 30 when the court will next hear the case.
The undergraduate philosophy student was on March 12 arrested for allegedly setting the office of a non-teaching employees' union on fire.
He was later named in the case over the alleged 'Azad Kashmir' graffiti which was written on the JU campus.
One protester was seriously injured when he tried to stop Basu's car.
