India, Jan. 26 -- Italian Tennis star Jannik Sinner defended his Australian Open title by beating Alexander Zverev in the final clash of the Grand Slam on Sunday.

In a merciless show of dominance, Sinner beat his opponent 6-3 7-6 (7-4) 6-3.

Sinner is now the first Italian player to win three Grand Slam crowns.

He shattered Nicola Pietrangeli's record who had once won back-to-back men's titles at Roland Garros.

Failing to create a single break point in the match, Sinner looked helpless in front of his dominating opponent who remained untroubled.

Despite putting up strong shows, Alexander Zverev will need to wait for a longer period to registered his first Grand Slam victory.
