India, July 11 -- Indian singing legend Asha Bhosle, whose songs have touched generations for decades, was the target of a cruel death rumour on social media recently.

According to reports, the fake news emerged on social media after a netizen named Shabana Shaikh first posted on Facebook a garlanded image of the singer and said she had died.

"Famous singer Asha Bhosle passed away - a musical era ends (01 July 2025)," the post read as quoted by News 18.

Several netizens, believing the post, reshared and mourned the demise of the singing legend.

Asha Bhosle's son Anand Bhosle refuted the fake social media post and told The Times of India: "It's untrue."
