India, July 2 -- US President Donald Trump has said Israel agreed to reach a '60-day' Gaza ceasefire deal, a move that would put a temporary end to the conflict that has been going on since October 7 2023.

Announcing on Truth Social, Donald Trump said: "My Representatives had a long and productive meeting with the Israelis today on Gaza. Israel has agreed to the necessary conditions to finalize the 60 Day CEASEFIRE, during which time we will work with all parties to end the War."

Israel has not commented on the issue so far.

A Hamas official told the BBC the group is "ready and serious" to reach an agreement if it ends the war.
