Jerusalem, Jan. 28 -- At least seven people died in a terror attack at a synagogue in Israel's East Jerusalem region on Friday, media reports said.

The 21-year-old terrorist arrived at Neve Yaakov street shortly after 8 p.m. and opened fire at people leaving the Ateret Avraham synagogue after Friday night prayers, reports The Jerusalem Post.

After entering and attacking the people in the synagogue, the shooter reportedly started chasing after people who were trying to escape, the newspaper reported.

According to local media reports, the terrorist was identified as Kheiry Alkam from east Jerusalem.
