India, Dec. 6 -- Airlines major Air India and Air India Express on Saturday said they have proactively capped economy class airfares on non-stop domestic flights to prevent the usual demand-and-supply mechanism amid the ongoing IndiGo crisis.

The ongoing crisis, involving the country's biggest aviation company, has led to multiple cancellations and overpricing of tickets across major routes.

Airports across the nation are flooded with passengers, complaining about missed, cancelled or rescheduled fights, causing chaos and tension.
