Fremont/IBNS, Sept. 25 -- An Indian-origin man, named Varun Suresh, has been charged with murder for stabbing a 71-year-old sexual offender in Fremont, California, media reports said.
Brimmer died despite receiving emergency aid.
The probe has found Varun used California's Megan Law database to locate Brimmer, who had no personal connection with the attacker.
Varun carried a knife and reached at the doorstep of the victim posing as a certified public accountant with a bag, notebook and coffee for a convincing look.
After formal greetings, when Brimmer fled the scene and unsuccessfully attempted to stop a car for help, he took refuge in a neighbour's garage and kitchen.
