India, Oct. 5 -- York Regional Police have said an Indian-origin person was arrested in Texas City in the US in connection with the December 2021 attack on Elnaz Hajtamiri in the City of Richmond Hill.

The arrest was made with York Regional Police Major Crimes Bureau, with the assistance of the United States Marshals Service (USMS), Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and the Austin Police Department.

The Indian-origin arrested person was identified as Sukhpreet Singh.

According to a CTV News report, Singh has been extradited to Canada.
