India, June 22 -- The Indian government evacuated 311 people, who were stranded in Iran, to India on Sunday, the Ministry of External Affairs said.

The evacuation was done as part of Operation Sindhu.

Sharing details about the latest evacuation from the conflict-torn nation, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal wrote on X, "311 Indian nationals arrived in New Delhi on a special flight from Mashhad at 1630 hrs on 22nd June."

Jaiswal said 1428 Indian nationals have now been evacuated from Iran.

In view of the deteriorating situation as a result of the ongoing conflict between Iran and Israel, the Government of India has been taking various steps over the last several days for the safety and security of Indian nationals in Iran.
