India, April 18 -- An Indian-descent doctor has been convicted for his participation in conspiracies to commit health care fraud and wire fraud and to unlawfully distribute controlled substances, said the US Department of Justice on Friday.
The doctor was identified as Neil K Anand.
"According to court documents and evidence presented at trial, Neil K. Anand M.D., 48, of Bensalem, Pennsylvania, conspired to submit false and fraudulent claims to Medicare, health plans provided by the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM), Independence Blue Cross (IBC), and Anthem, for "Goody Bags" of medically unnecessary prescription medications, which were dispensed to patients by in-house pharmacies owned by Anand," the USDepartment of Justice sai...
