Chennai/IBNS, Nov. 14 -- An Indian Air Force (IAF) trainer aircraft crashed near Tambaram in Chennai on Friday afternoon while on a routine training sortie, officials confirmed.

The pilot managed to eject safely, and no injuries or damage to civilian property were reported.

According to an official statement, the Pilatus PC-7 Mk II aircraft went down around 2:25 pm.

The IAF said immediate rescue protocols were activated, and the pilot was safely recovered soon after the ejection.

The IAF has ordered a Court of Inquiry to determine the cause of the crash.

Preliminary details indicate no operational or ground-level casualties, and authorities have secured the crash site.
