New Delhi/IBNS, Feb. 23 -- India has asked its citizens to leave Iran "in view of the evolving situation" amid simmering tensions in the Middle East and the possibility of US strikes.

The embassy has also requested all Indian nationals in Iran to keep their travel and immigration documents, including passports and IDs, readily available and to contact the embassy for any assistance.

The advisory comes amid fresh waves of protests led largely by Gen Z demonstrators, following 40-day memorials for individuals killed in earlier anti-government rallies, raising concerns over security and stability.
