India, Oct. 4 -- The selectors of the Board of Control for Cricket in India on Saturday named Shubman Gill as the new skipper of the Indian ODI team, replacing Rohit Sharma.
The selectors added Shreyas Iyer as his deputy in the Indian team that will visit Australia for the ODI series.
Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, who have retired from T20 and Test formats, were named in the 50-over squad that will face the World Champions on their turf.
While Yashasvi Jaiswal made a comeback to the ODI squad, pacer Jasprit Bumrah was rested.
India will play three ODI matches in Australia.
Under Rohit Sharma's leadership, India had won the Champions Trophy title earlier this year.
