India's Covid-19 tally nears 91 lakh, Delhi witnesses highest single-day cases, deaths
New Delhi, Nov. 22 -- India, a country of 1.3 billion people, added 45,209 fresh cases of coronavirus in the last 24 hours taking the total number of infections in the country to 90.95 lakh, the Union Health Ministry data showed on Sunday.
During the same period, the country recorded 501 deaths pushing the total fatalities' tally to 1,33,227.
At present, the Asian country's total contagion toll stands at 90,95,806.
As of date, 85,21,617 people have recovered from the infection taking the recovery rate to 93.69 per cent.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday held a virtual meeting with top officials including those from the centre's think-tank NITI Aayog on India's strategy for developing a COVID-19 vaccine and the way forward.
