India, Feb. 1 -- India has firmly rejected any suggestion of impropriety after Prime Minister Narendra Modi's name appeared in a reference contained in newly released files by the United States Department of Justice linked to financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
Responding to reports about an email cited in the so-called "Epstein files," Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said the reference merely mentioned Prime Minister Modi's official visit to Israel in July 2017 and carried no factual basis beyond that.
