Mumbai, Feb. 21 -- India is no longer a poor country and must take decisive steps in advancing its artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities, said Dr. Manish Gupta, Senior Director at Google DeepMind.
Speaking on the theme 'Transforming India with AI: Why We Need More Data,' at the ABP Network's Ideas of India 2025 summit, Dr. Gupta emphasised the need for India to develop its own foundational AI models.
Dr. Gupta noted that AI, though an old discipline, has gained momentum due to innovations like the transformer architecture, which has enabled powerful models such as ChatGPT.
Discussing AI's role in language and culture, Dr. Gupta stressed the importance of inclusivity in AI development.
