India, July 30 -- India has sent a fresh consignment of critical medical aid to war-torn Syria, continuing its humanitarian support to the country.
In an X post, MEA spokesperson S Jaishankar wrote: "India's humanitarian support to the people of Syria continues."
"India handed over a consignment of 5 MT of essential life saving medicines, including anti-cancer, antibiotics and anti-hypertensives to Syria," he said.
India and Syria enjoy friendly relations based on historic and civilizational ties. Both countries have had a secular, nationalist and developmental orientation with similar perceptions on many regional and international issues.
Mahatma Gandhi, Tagore and Nehru are remembered with great respect in Syria.
