India, July 15 -- Fauja Singh, the legendary runner who earned the tag of the world's oldest marathoner, died at the age of 114 in a road accident on Monday.
He was born on April 1, 1911, in Beyas village, Jalandhar.
He suffered a serious head injury and was immediately rushed to a hospital.
However, he succumbed to the injuries at 7:30 pm IST on Monday.
Singh's body has been kept in a mortuary till his children, who are living abroad, arrive. His last rites will be performed only after their arrival.
