India, Nov. 5 -- At least seven people were killed and 11 others injured after a UPS cargo plane crashed shortly after takeoff from Louisville's Muhammad Ali International Airport in the US on Tuesday, officials said.

According to reports, UPS Flight 2976, a McDonnell Douglas MD-11 bound for Honolulu, crashed around 5:15 p.m. local time, striking a petroleum recycling plant and triggering a massive fire.

Authorities said the aircraft was carrying three crew members and about 50,000 gallons of jet fuel. The blaze spread rapidly through the industrial area, and firefighters continued to battle the flames late into the night.
