India, June 29 -- Police have arrested five people, including a Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) leader, for allegedly raping a Hindu woman in Bangladesh's Comilla district on Saturday night, media reports said.

A video of the incident has now gone viral on social media.

According to two separate press releases, the prime accused, Md Fazor Ali, 36, was arrested around 5:00 am today, reported The Daily Star.

Ali is reportedly a Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) leader.

The four other detained people were identified as Sumon, Romzan, Md Arif, and Md Anik.

A case has been filed under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act, 2000.
