Chennai/IBNS, April 12 -- Union Home Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) strongman Amit Shah on Friday responded to the reports claiming K Annamalai was planned to be removed as the party president in Tamil Nadu to strike a deal with the AIADMK.
Tamil Nadu's two opposition parties, AIADMK and the BJP, came together to contest the 2026 state elections under the leadership of former Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami (EPS), Shah said at a joint press conference in Chennai on Friday.
The Home Minister recalled the massive win in the Lok Sabha elections in 1998 when the BJP and AIADMK were in an alliance helmed by former Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa.
The BJP-AIADMK alliance at one point won 30 of 39 Lok Sabha seats, he said.
