Bengaluru/IBNS, Aug. 1 -- Former Janata Dal Secular MP Prajwal Revanna has been convicted in a rape case by a special court, media reports said.

The rape case was filed by a domestic worker from KR Nagar in Mysuru, Karnataka.

In a speedy trial, the verdict was delivered within 14 months since the case was registered.

The quantum of punishment will be announced by the court on Saturday.

The survivor reportedly submitted a saree in the court as evidence.

The forensic analysis had confirmed the presence of sperm on the saree, which the complainant had preserved.

A Special Investigation Team (SIT) of CID had submitted a chargesheet of 2,000 pages against Revanna.

The trial had begun on December 31, 2024.
