Kolkata/IBNS, Dec. 24 -- A court in West Bengal's Murshidabad on Tuesday convicted 13 people and sentenced them to life imprisonment in connection with the killing of father-son duo Haragobindo Das and Chandan Das during violent anti-Waqf (Amendment) Act protests in Samserganj earlier this year, media reports said.
The victims were lynched in April amid unrest in the minority-dominated district during protests opposing the legislation.
The court also directed the West Bengal government to pay compensation of Rs.15 lakh to the victims' family.
