New Delhi, Oct. 2 -- The Electronics Component Manufacturing Scheme (ECMS) has attracted investment proposals worth Rs.1.15 lakh crore, Union Electronics and IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced on Thursday, far surpassing the programme's original benchmarks for investment, production, and employment.

The government said applications are being evaluated on a first-come, first-served basis, giving priority to early entrants.

For the first time, proposals have been submitted in areas such as SMD passives, laminates, flexible PCBs, anodes, and capital equipment.

He underlined that these components will help meet domestic demand while also serving global markets.
