New Delhi/IBNS, Dec. 11 -- The Election Commission has extended the timeline for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in five states and a Union Territory (UT), even as political attention turns sharply toward poll-bound West Bengal, which did not receive any extension.

The updated schedule affects Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

According to the revised calendar released today, the enumeration period has been extended to December 14 for Tamil Nadu and Gujarat, and to December 18 for Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
