New Delhi/IBNS, Jan. 9 -- Eight Trinamool Congress (TMC) MPs on Friday staged a protest outside Union Home Minister Amit Shah's office, escalating the party's confrontation with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over the Enforcement Directorate's (ED) raids linked to the alleged coal scam.

The protesting MPs - Derek O'Brien, Satabdi Roy, Mahua Moitra, Bapi Haldar, Saket Gokhale, Pratima Mondal, Kirti Azad and Dr Sharmila Sarkar - were detained and forcibly removed by police after they resisted evacuation. They were later shifted to a bus.

Condemning the action, the TMC alleged that law enforcement was being used to silence political dissent.
