Washington DC/IBNS, Feb. 4 -- United States President Donald Trump paused tariffs on Mexico for one month after last-minute talks on Monday.
However, there has been no breakthrough yet in negotiations with Canada on the issue which has triggered fears of a global trade war.
As world markets witnessed a heavy fall following the tariffs announcement, Trump decided to halt the levies after his Mexican counterpart Claudia Sheinbaum agreed to send 10,000 troops to the US-Mexico border following talks on Monday.
Announcing this on his Truth Social network, Trump said that after the "very friendly conversation" he had "agreed to immediately pause the anticipated tariffs for a one month period."
