Chennai, April 9 -- The Tamil Nadu government has signed an MoU with Dixon Technologies to establish a manufacturing facility for HP laptops and all-in-one PCs.

The plant will come up at the Indospace Industrial Park in Oragadam, close to Chennai.

Rs.1,000 crore investment to generate 5,000 jobs

State Industries Minister TRB Rajaa called it a major step forward in the state's electronics manufacturing drive. "HP laptops, soon to be #MadeInTamilNadu!" he wrote on social media, adding that the project will involve an investment of Rs.1,000 crore (about $115 million) and is expected to create 5,000 jobs.
