New Delhi, Feb. 20 -- The Delhi High Court on Wednesday directed the Centre to apprise the court of the steps taken regarding a 2019 complaint by BJP leader Subramanian Swamy concerning the alleged dual citizenship of Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, media reports said.
In August 2019, Swamy wrote to the Union home ministry, alleging that Gandhi had "voluntarily disclosed" British nationality to the UK government, which he claimed violated Article 9 of the Constitution and the Indian Citizenship Act, 1955.
Swamy's plea urged the court to direct the home ministry to take action on his representation, which sought the cancellation of Gandhi's citizenship.
