New Delhi, March 8 -- The Delhi government on Saturday approved the Mahila Samriddhi Yojana, allocating Rs 5,100 crore to provide monthly financial assistance of Rs 2,500 to women from economically weaker sections in the city, media reports said.

The initiative, which was a key promise in the BJP's Viksit Delhi Sankalp Patra during the Assembly elections, aims to enhance the financial security of underprivileged women.

Congratulating Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, Nadda said the scheme would significantly improve the economic condition of women from poor families.

Addressing the media, Rekha Gupta said the Delhi Cabinet has unanimously approved the scheme along with a budget provision of Rs 5,100 crore.
