Chennai/IBNS, June 4 -- Tamil actor Kamal Haasan has refused to apologise for his controversial remark over Kannada language that invited a ban on his upcoming film, Thug Life, despite a rap by Karnataka High Court on Tuesday, media reports said.

The actor-turned-politician has decided not to release the film in Karnataka.

Haasan had moved the High Court for an intervention after his film Thug Life was banned in Karnataka over his remark.

Haasan had sought a direction from the court to the authorities for the release of the film.

Haasan's lawyer said his client's remark was taken out of context and then presented a reply by the actor, a Mani Ratnam film slated for June 5 release.
