Dhaka, Oct. 25 -- The Bangladesh government has decided not to provide its service to any person who is not wearing a mask, a measure taken to fight the COVID-19 outbreak in the nation.

"Instructions have been given at all-levels, to all of our institutions-social, organisational or formal institutions-that no mask, no service. Masks must be used in all institutions, haats, markets, shopping malls, schools, and social and religious gatherings. We've made it compulsory," cabinet secretary Khandker Anwarul Islam was quoted as saying by Prothom Alo.

Bangladesh is one nation in South Asia where the pandemic has hit badly.

In the past 24 hours, the country has registered 1,308 new cases.

The latest tally has taken the tally to 398,815.
