India, Jan. 30 -- Confident Group chairman CJ Roy died by suicide on Friday after allegedly shooting himself at his office in Bengaluru while Income Tax raids were underway, police said. He was 57.

According to the police, the incident occurred within the limits of Ashok Nagar Police Station. Roy was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

"An incident has taken place wherein the Confident Group chairman shot himself. He was shifted to a hospital but was declared dead," Bengaluru Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh told the media.

"Police are in touch with the family members, who are currently not in India. As of now, it is a case of self-shooting," he said.
