India, Aug. 24 -- Indian Test batsman Cheteshwar Pujara, who will be remembered as one of the finest players to represent India in the longest format of the game after Rahul Dravid, announced his retirement on Sunday.

The 37-year-old right-hander shared his retirement post on social media.

"Wearing the Indian jersey, singing the anthem, and trying my best each time I stepped on the field - it's impossible to put into words what it truly meant. But as they say, all good things must come to an end, and with immense gratitude I have decided to retire from all forms of Indian cricket," he said.

Pujara's last outing for India occurred two years ago when he played the World Test Championship against Australia in 2023.
