New Delhi, March 14 -- The Central government forwarded a summons from the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to a Gujarat court for service on industrialist Gautam Adani in connection with a bribery case, The Hindu reported.
The newspaper cited an internal note from the Ministry of Law and Justice, dated February 25, which was sent to a sessions court.
The SEC has accused Gautam Adani and his nephew Sagar of orchestrating a bribery scheme involving hundreds of millions of dollars to Indian government officials in exchange for commitments to purchase energy at above-market rates, as per the US regulator's website.
The SEC has also charged Cyril Cabanes, an executive at Azure Power, for his role in the alleged bribery scheme.
