India, June 3 -- The Centre is preparing to initiate impeachment proceedings against sitting High Court judge, Justice Yashwant Varma, who is facing allegations of corruption after the discovery of a huge stash of cash from his official residence in Delhi, NDTV reported, quoting top government sources.

A motion seeking his removal will be brought in the upcoming session of Parliament, said reports.

Sources told NDTV that cross-party consensus would be crucial, given the constitutional threshold required for the removal (impeachment) of a judge.
