India, April 29 -- An Indian student in Canada, who was missing for the past three days, has been found dead, confirmed the Indian Embassy in Ottawa on Tuesday.

A massive search was launched since Vanshika went missing on April 25.

The Indian Embassy said: "We are deeply saddened to be informed of the death of Ms. Vanshika, student from India in Ottawa."

"The matter has been taken up with concerned authorities and the cause is under investigation as per local police," the Embassy said.

"We are in close contact with the bereaved kin and local community associations to provide all possible assistance," the Embassy said.
