New Delhi/IBNS, June 23 -- The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) have won one seat each in the byelections held in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's home state Gujarat.

The by-elections to five assembly seats across four states were held on June 19.

AAP's Gopal Italia has won from Gujarat's Visavadar seat while BJP's Rajendra Chavda won from Kadi.

In Punjab, the ruling AAP won the lone seat of Ludhiana West that went to bypoll.

The Congress-led UDF defeated the LDF in the Nilambur constituency which too went to bypolls on June 19.

In West Bengal, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's Trinamool Congress (TMC) consolidated its position winning in Kaliganj where BJP appeared to be a distant second.
