New Delhi/IBNS, Jan. 27 -- India and the European Union on Tuesday signed a historic trade deal in the backdrop of Washington's tariff on New Delhi.

The deal - often described as the "mother of all trade deals" - aims to reduce or eliminate tariffs on over 90% of goods traded between the two economies, expand market access, and deepen economic integration between India and the EU.

The deal is seen as strategically important amid global trade tensions, helping India diversify its trade partnerships beyond traditional markets and strengthen economic ties with the EU - one of its largest trading partners.
