India, Aug. 17 -- The Bharatiya Janata Party on Sunday named Maharashtra Governor CP Radhakrishnan as the National Democratic Alliance's (NDA) candidate for the upcoming Vice President election.

The decision was taken at the BJP Parliamentary Board meeting, which was called to finalise the party's choice for the Vice Presidential election, reported India Today.

The saffron outfit announced the name of its candidate weeks after Jagdeep Dhankhar resigned as the Vice President.

The Vice Presidential election will be held on September 9.

The last date for filing nomination is August 22.
