Kolkata, March 7 -- Indian PM Narendra Modi thanked people of West Bengal after addressing a rally at the iconic Brigade ground in Kolkata on Sunday, just days before the state votes in the first phase of the Assembly Polls.

Modi said Bharatiya Janata Party is the preferred choice of the people in the state which has beenruled by CM Mamata Banerjee's Trinamool Congress for the past 10 years.

Modi tweeted: "Thank you Kolkata! Thank you West Bengal. BJP is the state's preferred choice."

Modi sharpened his attack against CM Mamata Banerjee ahead of the West Bengal Assembly polls and asked people of the state to vote for his Bharatiya Janata Party which will help in attaining the dream of building 'Sonar Bangla'.
