Patna/IBNS, July 17 -- Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Thursday announced free electricity upto 125 units for all residents of his state in the run-up to the assembly elections.

The free electricity will be available to the Bihar residents from August 1, meaning from the July bill.

The assembly elections are due to be held in the last quarter of the year.

In an X post, the Chief Minister announced the government will also bear the cost of the installation of solar power plants at homes of extremely poor families but "appropriate support" for the rest.
