India, Dec. 14 -- Sairang Railway Station in Mizoram has handled its first-ever direct inward automobile rake, carrying 119 Maruti cars from Changsari near Guwahati, marking a significant milestone in the state's rail-linked logistics development.

Calling the movement historic, Indian Railways said it would enhance vehicle availability in Aizawl, reduce dependence on long-distance road transport, and provide a boost to Mizoram's automobile ecosystem, including dealers, service providers and customers. "This marks a significant step in the state's infrastructural and economic development," the Railways said in a statement.
