India, Feb. 18 -- A 65-year-old former employee of the Indian Space Research Organisation was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly killing his wife at their residence in south Bengaluru, media reports said.

The accused, Nageshwar Rao, a resident of the Virtuoso apartment complex in Bommanahalli, is accused of strangling his wife, Sandya Sri, with a towel.

According to police, Rao allegedly intended to take his own life after killing his wife.

Police said the couple's daughter, who lives in the United States, has been informed about the incident.

Further investigation is underway to establish the sequence of events and verify medical and personal circumstances leading up to the alleged crime.
