India, Feb. 12 -- West Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose on Monday assured the people of this trouble-torn area, especially the women, that he was with them and would do whatever could be done to alleviate their "sufferings", official sources said.

In one and one talk, Bose allowed the women to narrate what they had to say and after listening to them, he said, "This land belongs to the Kali Mata and Durga Mata."

The Governor said he would always remain with them for their welfare.

The women, scores of them covering their head and face with saree, came into the path of the visiting governor and sat on the road to narrate their situation.
