Kolkata/IBNS, Aug. 22 -- The West Bengal government has finally suspended four officials over the electoral roll discrepancies obeying the Election Commission of India (ECI)'s directive, media reports said.
However, no FIR has been filed yet.
Departmental proceedings have been initiated, The Hindu reported quoting an official at the state secretariat Nabanna.
The government had snubbed the ECI's directive and had withdrawn an officer and a data entry operator from election-related duties and had launched a probe.
Among the four who have been ordered to be suspended, two are Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) and the other two are Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AERO).
